But this lightweight insulation material is increasingly also being used in road construction: It is employed wherever the ground conditions are tough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Low weight coupled with high load-bearing capacity: With a bulk density of 20 kg\/m\u00b3, expanded polystyrene can withstand a load of 3 tonnes per m\u00b2. But at the same time the white insulation material weighs just 1\/100th of conventional ground materials. This makes <strong>flapor<\/strong> ideal for constructing road embankments, backfilling bridge abutments or stabilizing slopes and car parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the case of less stable soils, for example in river landscapes such as the Rhine Valley, it has previously been difficult to create piled embankments. Replacing the heavy ground materials in these areas significantly reduces the load on the soil beneath.
