Properties of particle foams.​

Particle foams are an extremely innovative material for packaging. The basic materials are delivered loose and processed at Flatz on foaming machines to produce individual moulded parts that are made to measure. They are then used to produce lots of new packaging options – for technical applications or for secure transport in the food or pharmaceutical industry, for building accessories, in the automotive sector, etc. We have the solution for you.

BASF is the inventor of the extraordinarily versatile and ingenious rigid foam EPS. It consists of a closed-cell polystyrene cellular structure (2% polystyrene and 98% air). The technical name is EPS (expandable polystyrene); the more modern name is ‘airpop’.

PS/PE Piocelan is a hybrid rigid foam material comprising polystyrene (EPS) and polyolefins (PE polyethylene). This means that the positive properties of both materials are retained.

PS/PP Piocelan TOPF is a hybrid rigid foam material comprising polystyrene (EPS) and polyolefins (PP polypropylene). This means that the positive properties of both materials are retained.

EPP is a polypropylene foam material comprising expanded foam particles and is 95% air and just 5% polypropylene. The material has extremely versatile uses.
